If you haven’t heard, World Autism Awareness Day is April 2. To raise awareness, the people behind Autism Speaks are having something called the Light It Up Blue campaign, which encourages people to help raise awareness of their efforts to diagnose and find answers to questions about this condition that is still not fully understood.
If you want to participate, they are encouraging people to wear blue on Thursday and Friday, change a light at your home or place of business to blue, donate to the cause, or event just “like” their website on Facebook. This is post is my very small way of helping to take up the cause.
Autism affects 1 in 110, and with those kinds of numbers, it’s not surprising I know students in my classes, at my church, and in my family who are affected, and I bet you do too. I’d encourage you to head over to either the Light It Up Blue website or Autism Speaks and give them a “like” on Facebook.
