A while back, I wrote a Math Tutor DVD review of Jason Gibson’s math tutorial DVD series. Now, I’m going to try to get a few overviews of the individual math courses on DVD. First up is Math Tutor DVD’s calculus DVD. Whether you’re taking AP Calculus (AB or BC), or any of the standard college calculus courses, this calculus tutoring DVD series covers the lessons you’re going to learn.
Calculus Courses on DVD
Much like college calculus courses, Jason has his calculus DVD’s set up in three courses. Course one will tutor you on single variable calculus “basics” of limits, derivatives, and integrals. Course two teaches calculus of inverse trig functions, parametric function, polar coordinates, and infinite series. Course three is split into two volumes and will help you learn multivariate calculus, including 3D calculus, vectors, triple integrals, and advanced theorems such as Green’s Theorem and Stoke’s Theorem.
Most students will find the MathTutorDVD breakdown of topics to fit their high school or college courses well. If you are a college student looking for tutoring, course 1, 2, and 3 will probably align closely to your 3 college calculus classes. If you are a high school student in need of AP Calculus tutoring, it’ll depend on which version of the class you are taking. Students taking AP Calculus AB will want course 1. If you’re in AP Calculus BC, you’ll need course 1 and 2. I would always advise you to check out your college or high school syllabus, however. There are some cases where I’ve seen a math department department deviate from Jason’s lineup of topics. For example, I know when I taught calculus both in high school and college, my course 1 always included L’Hospital’s rule. If you’re planning on taking more than one calculus course, you’re probably better off to just purchase the entire lineup of Calculus DVD’s at the start in case your instructors teach a couple of topics in a different order than Jason.
As always, MathTutorDVD.com comes with a money-back guarantee to raise your grade. To get the best price on Jason’s calculus DVD, click here.
