Quick update on the TI-Nspire CX CAS, as I know a lot of you are waiting to hear more on the release date for the CAS version. I actually pre-ordered mine from the Bach Company back in April at the annual NCTM meeting. I hadn’t received mine yet, so last Friday, I contacted the Bach Company to see what the latest was and promptly received this update:
We just received word this morning that TI is shipping the new CX CAS this week. We should be getting them early next week. We’ll ship it out to you as soon as it’s in!
Hopefully that means that people who pre-ordered the Nspire CX CAS can expect to see it around the end of this week, but I’d be patient. There have been supply issues with the TI-Nspire CX up to this point too. I’ve noticed that some vendors on Amazon have dealt with that issue through simple supply and demand economics–they’ve jacked up the price. They’re currently a little overpriced on Amazon but I expect that’s due to the initial short supply. It’ll be worth it at that cost to some people, but for the vast majority, it’s probably better to wait for the supply to catch up over the next couple of months.
UPDATE: Over on the TPM Facebook page, Jared E. says that he actually received his TI-Nspire CX CAS from EAI Education over 2 weeks ago. Shipping of the CAS version seems to be starting off in the same kinds of spurts that the non-CAS version has. Thanks for the info, Jared.
